The eighth day of Navratri is also called as the Maha Ashtami which is considered as the most significant day of Navratri.
Today the eighth form of Goddess Durga that is Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped across the country. Goddess Mahagauri symbolizes Purity and Serenity. She carries a Trishul and Damru in two hands while the other two hands are in Varada and Abhaya Mudra respectively. She is said to be wearing only white clothes and also mounted on a bull due to which she is also titled as Vrisharudha.
On the day of Maha Ashtami devotees perform Mahasnan and Shodashopachar Puja. During this Puja, Nine small pots are installed with Nine Shaktis of Maa Durga being invoked in them. Many families also perform Kanjak or Kanya Puja where 9 little girls are invited over for lunch and are offered with sweets and gifts.
The eighth day of Navratri festival is associated with pink colour. Which symbolizes universal love, affection, and harmony. It is believed that this colour is attractive and makes the person approachable and adds charm to one's personality.
